New York City - Brixmor Property Group announced the hiring of Chardell Steves and Jerry Teitelbaum as VPs of Strategic Leasing for the West and North regions, respectively. Both seasoned mall leasing professionals, Steves joins Brixmor from General Growth Properties and Teitelbaum joins from Taubman Centers.
The pair will focus on further developing Brixmor’s efforts to attract retailers that are traditionally mall-based to open stores in the company’s open-air shopping centers. The initial stages of this initiative have already yielded successful results, with Brixmor recently executing 10 leases with traditional mall operators, including two Gap leases, Banana Republic, American Eagle Outfitters, Chico’s, two Christopher & Banks leases, two Kay Jewelers leases, and an Apricot Lane.
While Director of Leasing at General Growth Properties, Steves was responsible for strategic redevelopment, proforma analysis, NOI growth and leasing the company’s Chicago-area trophy malls: Water Tower Place, Oakbrook Center and Northbrook Court.
During his tenure as VP of Leasing at Taubman Centers, Teitelbaum oversaw leasing process, including creation of merchandise mix, marketing materials, partner reporting and relations, as well as strategies for key and major tenant leasing. He also created and managed NOI growth opportunities within centers by managing peripheral ground sales, leases, build-to-suit opportunities, and property expansion opportunities. In addition, Teitelbaum spearheaded the development of Taubman Prestige Outlets, Taubman's first open-air outlet project.
