Bourn Companies has broken ground at a retail center on Tucson’s south side that could eventually add 600,000-sq.-ft. of retail space to the city.
About 220,000-sq.-ft. of that space is taking shape and expected to be completed by the end of the year at Fashion Park Shopping Center, located on Irvington Road at the intersection of Interstate 19. Complete build-out is expected by 2020.
Plans call for anchor tenants to be situated on the west side of the center, facing I-19, while restaurants and shops will sit east and south facing the Interstate and Irvington road. Arizona’s Department of Transportation is adding a third right-turn lane off I-19 to accommodate increased traffic flow to the center.
Chipotle and Southern Arizona Urgent Care are to be among the first tenants at Fashion Park.
Many of Bourn’s key executives came up in leasing and building management, and materials provided by the Tucson-based company state that it prides itself on having a tenant orientation.
