Belk consolidates Avenues stores

Charlotte, N.C. Belk has consolidated back into a single store at The Avenues Mall in Jacksonville, Fla., according to a report by the Jacksonville Business Journal.

In 2007, the company expanded from an existing 182,000-sq.-ft. anchor space to fill an additional 117,000-sq.-ft. anchor space formerly occupied by Parisian.

“We listened to customers and decided that we could serve them best by combining our two locations into one,” Jeff Timm, store manager, told the Journal.

Belk operates 305 department stores in 16 Southern states.
