BDO Consulting names managing director

New York City BDO Consulting said Monday it has named Richard S. Hauer as managing director in the firm’s Manhattan office. The move is intended to increase BDO’s focus on real estate advisory services, according to the company.

Hauer will concentrate on restructuring services, but will also advise real estate clients across various sectors on valuation and asset management. His appointment is effective immediately.

Prior to joining BDO Consulting, Hauer was the president of the real estate unit of an international turnkey asset management, disposition and appraisal company where he was responsible for identifying and executing distressed real estate opportunities for investment and advisory services. He has been the real estate advisor to a number of retailers, developers and manufacturers including Fortunoff, Sportsman’s Warehouse, Lake Las Vegas, Kmart, Service Merchandise, General Motors and Friedman’s Jewelers.
