Barneys New York opens Scottsdale store
Scottsdale, Ariz. Barneys New York opened a store on Friday in Scottsdale, Ariz., its first in the market, according to a report by The Arizona Republic.
The 65,000-sq.-ft. luxury store anchors a new wing at Scottsdale Fashion Square and features floral-printed Le Corbusier chairs and an imposing staircase.
The store opens amid unsubstantiated reports that Barneys could file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection or sell itself to Toronto department store chain Holt Renfrew.
The new store anchors a 100,000-sq.-ft. wing that replaces the Goldwater's/Robinson-May department store that closed in 2006 when Macy's owner Federated Department Stores bought competitor May Department Stores.
