Avison Young expands reach in the Carolinas

3/21/2017

Avison Young has bought a Raleigh, North Carolina-based leasing and property management company and, in the process, added 65 shopping centers to its listings in the Carolinas.

The acquired company, Hunter & Associates, was founded in 1989 by Banks Hunter when he took over management of the historic Professional Building in downtown Raleigh. Hunter focused its efforts on the leasing and management of neighborhood and community centers to become the largest, locally-based retail brokerage in the region.

“Banks Hunter and his team will play a critical role in expanding Avison Young’s footprint in a region that we consider to be under-serviced by the commercial real estate industry, particularly when it comes to retail assets,” said Earl Webb, Avison Young’s president of U.S. Operations.

Avison Young adds 11 new associates to its employee roster with the acquisition as well 3.5 million sq. ft. of retail and office listings, doubling the size of its presence in the Carolinas.
