Joe Coradino’s mission to rebuild PREIT one relevant retailer at a time proceeds apace.
The CEO of the Philadelphia-based mall owner today celebrates the opening of a Whole Foods Market store in the space formerly occupied by Kmart in Exton, Pennsylvania, about halfway between Philly and Reading. Coradino has been relentless about replacing downward-trending department stores with replacements such as Legoland and Dave & Busters and increase sales per sq. ft. across the REIT’s entire portfolio.
"In the new age of retail, the traditional mall is evolving into a destination offering a variety of options for the consumer with dining, entertainment, and grocery being important components," Coradino said in a release announcing the Whole Foods debut.
Other on-trend tenants at Exton Mall include H&M, Journeys, Francesca's, and Round 1 Entertainment.
