Apple to remodel 100 stores, open 25 new locations

5/28/2009

New York City Apple isn’t letting the economic downturn get in the way of its building plans. The company said Wednesday that it plans to open 25 stores and remodel 100 stores this year, according to a report in USA Today.

The remodeling program is intended to make more room for customer training and displayed products, the company said.

The 25 new stores include a fourth location in New York City, and new ones in Paris, Italy and Germany.

"We know that a lot of people are cutting back, but we're doing the opposite," Ron Johnson, Apple's senior VP retail, told USA Today. "We're investing in the downturn."
