American Girl to open first Seattle-area store

2/24/2011

Seattle -- American Girl said Wednesday it will make its Northwest U.S. debut as it opens a new store this summer at Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood, Wash.

According to a report by the Seattle Times, the Middleton, Wis.-based retailer, a division of Mattel, said it is taking 12,500 sq. ft. of space spanning the mall's interior and outdoor Village.

The new store will replace several departed or relocated tenants, including Cold Stone Creamery, World Wrapps and Anchor Blue.

In addition to its standard merchandise fare of dolls, accessories, children's clothing and books, American Girl said the new store will feature a 50-seat restaurant, doll hair salon and T-shirt design boutique.

The Alderwood location is one of two new American Girl stores planned for 2011. The other will be in Washington, D.C., this June, said the report.
