Aldi commits to former Bombay space

5/18/2009

Chicago Mid-America Real Estate Corp. said it has leased Chicago-area space to Aldi. The location, on N. Clybourn Avenue, was formerly occupied by Bombay Furniture and Leather Creation.

The lease totals 16,600 sq. ft., which Aldi will remodel into space for their new format grocery store that is scheduled to open later this year.

In related news, Mid-America landed Wal-Mart for an expanded lease at the Quarry Shopping Center in southwest Chicago. The retailer renewed and expanded its existing lease by 80,543 sq. ft., bringing the space total to 201,194 sq. ft

Wal-Mart will remain open as the additional space is under construction, with a grand re-opening planned for fall 2009.

Also committing to the Quarry are retailers Play N Trade, which leased 1,600 sq. ft., and Dress Barn, which renewed its lease for 7,500 sq. ft.

The center is anchored by Wal-Mart, Kohl's, Office Max and Sam's Club.
