Plano Market Square is the second mall in Plano to be redeveloped into a mixed-use development.

The Plano Market Square Mall in the expanding suburb north of Dallas has been closed for a few years, and the Plano City Council this week okayed a plan to remove it and replace it with a mixed-use project.

Houston-based Tritten Real Estate Partners will tear down part of the 300,000-sq.-ft. mall that opened in 1980 and replace it with office space, shops, and some 300 apartments in four two- and three-story buildings, according to the Dallas Morning News.

New restaurant buildings are proposed to be constructed facing Spring Creek Parkway off of U.S. Highway 75, where Centurion American Development is constructing a $1 billion mixed-use project on the former site of Plano’s Collin Creek Mall.
