Planet Hollywood re-opens in New York City
Planet Hollywood is making its return to the Big Apple with a new restaurant featuring a high-tech design.
Planet Hollywood New York has opened on 42nd Street in New York City near Times Square. The 20,000-sq.-ft. location is a $20 million investment that showcases a “cutting-edge, technology-driven” space designed to set a new standard for the brand, the company said.
Planet Hollywood opened its flagship location in New York City on West 57th Street in 1991. After relocating to Times Square in 2000, the restaurant closed its doors following the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new Planet Hollywood features a 360-degree canopy of state-of-the-art, high-definition screens, with over 692 video tiles deliveing a “cutting-edge dining and event experience” through dynamic and interactive displays. With 8K resolution video surfaces spread across each floor, Planet Hollywood says diners will be transported to thematic worlds, ranging from old Hollywood glamour to futuristic landscapes.
Instead of traditional memorabilia, the all-encompassing audio-visual experience brings Hollywood to life through synchronized video projections, soundscapes, and interactive elements. The restaurant's third floor also features dynamic video screens embedded into the dining room's ceiling, adding to the screens on the four walls.
