Whole Foods offers discounts to healthy employees
Austin, Texas Whole Foods Market has announced a program called The Team Member Healthy Discount Incentive to encourage employees to live a healthy lifestyle.
The program offers increased discounts for full- and part-time employees who do not use nicotine products and satisfy certain healthy biometric criteria for blood pressure, total cholesterol (or LDL) levels and Body Mass Index (BMI).
Employees already receive a 20% discount on purchases at Whole Foods Market stores as an employment benefit, but now, those who voluntarily opt to participate in the incentive plan could receive up to an additional 10%.
Whole Foods CEO John Mackey said the program is designed to reduce healthcare costs to the company.
