Walmart exec assumes COO spot at Brookdale

The top executive over Health and Wellness of Walmart's U.S. division is leaving to join Brookdale Senior Living as its COO.



Labeed Diab will have responsibility for all aspects of Brookdale’s operations, including community and field operations, marketing and sales.



Diab brings significant retail and health-and-wellness operational leadership experience to the company. At Walmart, he was responsible for the organization's full-service health-and-wellness offerings, including vision centers and primary care clinics, comprising approximately 5,000 nationwide locations with more than 85,000 associates. Before heading up Health and Wellness, Diab was of the Midwest division for Walmart U.S., managing retail stores and overseeing approximately 100,000 associates. At Brookdale, Diab will report to CEO Andy Smith.



“Labeed's mix of retail and health and wellness operational leadership experience is uniquely suited for Brookdale, and we will rely on his expertise to create stockholder value through improvements to our operational effectiveness,” Smith said.



Before joining Walmart, Diab served as regional VP of Aramark's Health Care Division and as regional VP for Rite Aid. Diab began his career as a pharmacy manager with American Stores and later served in regional roles for CVS Caremark. Diab holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and is a registered pharmacist. Diab also completed an advanced management program from Duke University, Fuqua School of Business.



Brookdale Senior Living is one of the leading operators of senior living communities throughout the United States, with approximately 1,135 communities in 47 states and the ability to serve approximately 110,000 residents. Through the company's ancillary services program, Brookdale also offers a range of outpatient therapy, home health, personalized living and hospice services.
