Walgreens’ Senior VP to Retire

Milwaukee Walgreen Co. said Tuesday that John Gleeson is retiring as senior VP and chief strategy officer on Feb. 29.

Gleeson, 61, was a key driver behind the drug store chain's aggressive growth in the 1990s and the move to add health-care services to its service offerings, the company said.

Robert Zimmerman, VP of corporate development, will now lead the strategy group.

Meanwhile, Howard Atlas, a VP of store operations, has been named to the new position of VP of health and wellness integration.
