Walgreens Names New Lead Director

Deerfield, Ill. Walgreen Co. said Thursday that Alan McNally, a director at the company since 1999, was named to the newly created position of "lead director" at Walgreen.

“Designating a lead director is becoming a standard good governance practice, making it the right time for us to take this action,” said Walgreens chairman and CEO Jeffrey A. Rein.

McNally served as CEO of Harris Bank from 1993 to 2002. Although he is now retired, he continues to serve as a special advisor to the bank.
