Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Sued by Former Employees
New York City, Four former Wal-Mart Stores Inc. employees slammed their previous employer with a discrimination lawsuit alleging they were denied certain rights because of their ethnicity.
The defendants, who are all from El Salvador, claim they were denied more favorable compensation, terms, conditions and privileges of employment compared to other non-Hispanic workers. They were all employed in a Wal-Mart store in Airmont, N.Y.
The complaint also states that the men were regularly assigned harder tasks and that the reasons cited for termination were a pretext for discrimination.
“We are committed to providing an environment that is free of discrimination and harassment. Wal-Mart does not tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind,” said a spokesperson for the chain in response to the lawsuit.
