Vertical shoe retailer steps up store operations

2/1/2016

For footwear manufacturer Red Wing Shoe Company, operating more than 500 stores is an added network complexity.

The Red Wing, Minnesota-based company also has a wider variety of in-store needs, such as operating a business-to-business sales environment as well as a direct-to-consumer channel, than many other retailers. Thus, when Red Wing decided to implement Oracle Retail Xstore POS software, it enlisted the help of system integration and development services provider BTM Global.

BTM Global will provide Red Wing with custom development of the Oracle Retail Xstore POS software, code stabilization, and additional enhancements to smoothly implement the software in its stores. The integrator’s work will primarily support and improve the ease of use and productivity of stores’ POS systems.

In addition, BTM Global will help ensure that POS systems are compliant with EMV credit card regulations and that data is handled securely.

It is increasingly common for companies like Red Wing to blur the lines between manufacturer and retailers, as well as between business-to-business and business-to-consumer. While robust enterprise systems like Oracle Retail Xstore are a good choice to help support these complex operations, utilizing an integration partner to manage the large amounts of necessary customization can also be a smart decision.

“We selected BTM Global because of the company’s proven record of delivering quality results in a timely manner,” said Marc Kermisch, CIO, Red Wing Shoe Company. “We are particularly pleased to be working with a fellow Minnesota partner on this project.”
