USM’s Harnett becomes certified snow professional

4/7/2009

Norristown, Pa.-based USM, a national leader in facilities maintenance and management, announced today that business development account executive, Sean Hartnett, has become a certified snow professional with accreditation from the Snow and Ice Management Association.

A CSP is a recognized industry leader who has taken the next step in professional snow and ice management. To receive this certification, Hartnett passed a challenging six-hour exam covering business, legal, subcontractor, snow science, snow mechanics, and human resources. The CSP certification requires that members continue their education and keep up-to-date in snow and ice practices. The SIMA CSP program encourages cooperation between industry leaders for the development of training programs and continuing education, encouraging certified members to effectively communicate the industry’s values and principals. With this certification, SIMA has raised the standard of the snow service industry.

Hartnett is also a member of Snow Business Magazine’s editorial advisory board. This committee is responsible for brainstorming new ideas for editorial content for SIMA's official publication. Current initiatives for editorials include a recurring “Can Snow Go Green” editorial piece, a Top Ten list for each issue, and a Q&A section.

Hartnett has served as an account manager within USM’s exterior services group. This experience helped him gain extensive knowledge working with a variety of clients and incorporating weather-tracking systems and best practices for snow removal to maximize service levels. With his client relationship experience, Hartnett successfully transitioned to the business-development team. As a CSP, Hartnett joins USM’s elite team of subject-matter experts. Hartnett received his B.S. in Business Administration from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.
