Urban Outfitters announces global unit president

Philadelphia Urban Outfitters named Steve Murray as global president of its namesake brand.

Murray, 49, will replace Tedford Marlow, who is retiring, effective April 12. Marlow is expected to remain at the company through the spring of 2011 in the role of executive director of business development, focusing on international expansion and special projects.

Murray was previously president of clothing maker VF Corp.'s Action Sports coalition, overseeing the company's Vans and Reef brands.
