Ulta names Office Depot exec as president, COO and next CEO
Bolingbrook, Ill. Ulta Salon Cosmetics & Fragrance said Tuesday it has appointed former Office Depot executive Chuck Rubin its new president, COO, and CEO.
Rubin, Office Depot's president of North American retail operations, will first become president and COO of the 348-store beauty chain, effective May 10. After a four-month transition period, he will take over the CEO post as well.
Lyn Kirby, the current CEO of Ulta, will remain in the position during the transition period. She will remain on the board through March 2011 to provide guidance and counsel.
“Chuck's extensive retail background and knowledge of retailing will be highly valuable to us as the company continues to execute its proven strategy and maintain its successful track record of growth," stated Kirby. “One of my key priorities is to ensure a smooth transition in leadership and continue our strong performance.”
Rubin joined Office Depot in 2004 as executive VP and chief merchandise and marketing officer, rising to president North American retail in 2006. Prior to that, he spent six years at Accenture Consulting.
