Minneapolis – Doug Baker, CEO of environmental technology firm Ecolab, has been named by Target Corp. as lead independent director of the Target board. Baker, who already serves as an independent director for Target, will replace current independent director Jim Johnson, who is retiring from the board in June after almost 20 years.
“It is with a mix of honor and humility that I have agreed to take on this role,” Baker said in a proxy statement sent to Target shareholders. “In this role I will work to support and enable the Board and management as we work to deliver on our responsibilities to our shareholders of continuing Target’s long history of profitable growth, great citizenship and shareholder responsiveness.”
Johnson is founder of Johnson Capital Partners and also served as chairman of Perseus, LLC, a merchant banking private equity firm, from April 2001 to June 2012.
