FedEx on-time performance went up this holiday season while UPS did not fare quite as well.
According to new data from package tracking provider ShipMatrix Inc., FedEx met its guarantees of one-, two- and three-day holiday deliveries 97.8% of the time in 2015. This marked an improvement from 97.3% in 2014 and 95.4% in 2013.
FedEx outperformed UPS, which came in at a 95.5% success rate this year. UPS’ on-time delivery rate fell from 98.1% in 2014 but was better than 93.9% in 2013. ShipMatrix tracks deliveries between Cyber Monday (Nov. 30 this year) and Christmas. After some glitches the week of Cyber Monday, UPS improved to a 97% success rate.
UPS has stated it successfully made all holiday deliveries by Christmas Eve this year. Bizrate Insights previously reported issues with overall on-time holiday delivery in the first half of December. Bizrate Insights data indicated on-time delivery rate went from 93.3% on Tuesday, Dec. 1 to 89.9% on Tuesday, Dec. 15.
