Sears names merchandising exec as acting CEO of Sears Canada
Hoffman Estates, Ill. – Sears Holdings Corp. has named Ronald D. Boire, executive VP/chief merchandising officer of Sears Full Line Stores and Kmart Format, as acting president and CEO of Sears Canada. Boire will leave his role with Sears Holdings and replaces former Sears Canada CEO Douglas Campbell, who the company previously said would leave his post by the end of 2014.
Both Sears Holdings and Sears Canada have been experiencing recent financial troubles. At the beginning of October, Sears Holdings said it would sell most of its 51% stake in its Sears Canada division to shareholders in an effort to raise up to $380 million of capital by November 214, in time for the holiday season.
At Sears Holdings, Boire led merchandising and retail stores for both the Sears and Kmart brands, working with company leadership to improve the experience for customers and Shop Your Way members. He previously served as CEO of Brookstone Inc.
