Safeway expands board to 12 members

Pleasanton, Calif. Safeway has expanded its board, adding Arun Sarin and Michael S. Shannon as directors.

The additions brings the board's total to 12 members, the retailer said late Tuesday.

Sarin previously served as CEO of mobile-phone company Vodafone Group PLC. Shannon is the founder of KSL Recreation Corp., KSL Resorts and private-equity firm KSL Capital Partners LLC.
