Report: Wal-Mart to decide India plans this month
Bentonville, Ark. – Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. will reportedly decide how it will proceed with retail plans in India this month. According to Reuters, Wal-Mart’s Indian partner Bharti Enterprises will decide if it wants to continue working with Wal-Mart based on those plans.
Wal-Mart currently runs Best Price Modern Wholesale stores in India as an equal partner with Bharti, and due to new regulations allowing foreign retailers to own 51% of their businesses in India is expected to open Wal-Mart stores there. Bharti has previously been reported as wanting to end its partnership with Wal-Mart. The company declined to comment in the Reuters article.
