New York -- Ron Johnson is reportedly stepping back into the public arena. The former J.C. Penney chief (and, before that, Apple retail head) is about to launch a “high-end, on-demand delivery service” for electronic devices, according to The Information. The report described the service as "Best Buy's Geek Squad meets Apple's Genius Bar."
Johnson is being joined in the new start-up by some former Apple executives, the report said, including the company’s former VP of retail, Jerry McDougal, who left the tech giant in 2013.
Johnson has not commented publically on the reported new venture. But the news of it comes at a time when Google and Amazon are also reportedly working on enhanced delivery services.
