J.C. Penney is doing a staff makeover.
That’s according to the
New York Post, which reported that the retailer will convert many full-time employees to part-time positions (by cutting their hours from 35 a week to 25), and hire more part-timers. The move will allow the chain to have more employees on the sales floor during busy weekend days.
The new organization, “redistributes tasks and responsibilities more efficiently among store associates to support company growth initiatives, resulting in substantial cost savings while maintaining our commitment to delivering excellent customer service,” Penney spokesman Joey Thomas told
The Post in an email.
