Toronto - Costco Canada has reportedly had its license to import fish into Canada suspended. According to Reuters, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency suspended Costco’s license to import fish on Feb. 26, but is only making it public now.
No fish products sold at Costco are being recalled, but the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) determined Costco violated regulations for bringing fish into Canada. The suspension of the license came after Costco had three incidents in two years regarding canned tuna. The incidents involved requirements for written notification of each shipment of fish to an inspector either before or within 48 hours of importing the products, and moving fish without permission.
Costco has not yet commented publicly.
