Amazon is making new moves to support its expanding business in India.
Specifically, the online giant is adding seven new warehouses — a move that will provide employment to about 4,000 people, according to
The Times of India.Further, the company is planning to have 41 warehouses or fulfillment centers open by the end of June this year, the report said.
Besides calling Amazon.in the most visited and fastest growing marketplace in India, CEO Jeff Bezos commented in a statement along with the company’s first quarter earnings that Amazon will keep investing in Amazon.in’s technology and infrastructure.
“Our India team is moving fast and delivering for customers and sellers," Bezos said in the report. "The team has increased Prime selection by 75% since launching the program nine months ago, increased fulfillment capacity for sellers by 26% already this year, announced 18 Indian Original TV series, and just last week introduced a Fire TV Stick optimized for Indian customers with integrated voice search in English and Hindi.”
