Regency associate receives national guard promotion
Jacksonville, Fla. Regency Centers announced that Betsy Evans, tenant coordinator, has been promoted to Major in the Florida Army National Guard.
According to Jack Heinemann, Regency Centers VP construction, working in Regency’s construction group has played an important role in Evans’ new responsibilities as Major where she is assisting the Guard’s Colonel as project manager on more than $180 million of new construction at Camp Blanding, a U.S. Army base in Jacksonville.
Evans has served in several countries in the war on terrorism and as a Combat Engineer Company Commander in Baghdad in 2004 and 2005. Evans majored in Civil Engineering at West Point and is also in the Army Corps. of Engineers.
According to Evans, her promotion will support the redevelopment project at Camp Blanding which was a mobilization base during World War II. The new construction will accommodate triple the number of soldiers served each year at the base. In her new role, Evans will direct the construction of new roads and buildings while expanding the multi-million dollar training facility that allows soldiers in the Southeast to train in Jacksonville rather than traveling as far as Texas, North Dakota or Alaska. The infrastructure improvements will also greatly expand the Camp’s digital warfare training capabilities.
