RadioShack chief merchandising exec resigns

Fort Worth, Texas RadioShack's chief merchandising officer Peter Whitsett has left the company to pursue other interests, according to a report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Whitsett's duties will be temporarily assumed by various members of the chain's senior management while it launches an executive search for a permanent successor, according to the company.

RadioShack chairman/CEO Julian Day brought Whitsett aboard nearly two years ago from Sears Holdings, where he had been responsible for the retailer's general merchandising businesses.
