Publix Plans Clinic for Job Injuries
Lakeland, Fla., Publix Super Markets wants to build a 1,400-sq.-ft. clinic near its manufacturing facilities to treat minor injuries that occur in the company's local distribution center and plants, according to a report in local Florida publication The Ledger.
Officials are still in the permitting process, but the report said the clinic is expected to open in the first quarter of 2008.
It will deal exclusively in "less severe" injuries such as sprains and cuts, and will be operated by an outside vendor, the report said.
It will be the company's second clinic; Publix opened the first in Deerfield Beach two years ago.
