PetSmart names CEO

New York City PetSmart announced that its board of directors has appointed Robert F. Moran as CEO. Moran has been the company's president and COO since 2001, and will retain his title as president.

Current chairman and CEO Phil Francis will become executive chairman of the board, and will continue to work closely with Moran and PetSmart's leadership team to pursue the company's successful business and financial strategies. 

Moran, 58, joined PetSmart in July 1999 as president of North American Stores. In December 2001, he was appointed president and COO. Moran came to PetSmart from Toys “R” Us, Ltd., Canada, where he was president.
