PayPal combines product and engineering oversight

9/1/2015

San Jose, Calif. – PayPal Holdings Inc. is combining the management structure for its product and engineering departments.

Hill Ferguson, who served as senior VP of PayPal’s consumer business, has resigned his position.

Ferguson’s role will not be directly replaced. Instead, Bill Ready, senior VP and global head of merchant and next-generation commerce, is also assuming control of the consumer side of operations. This means he will oversee all product and engineering activities.

PayPal is reversing a decision made by CEO Dan Schulman earlier this year, before PayPal spun off from former parent company eBay. Schulman split product and engineering oversight between Ferguson and Ready, who previously served as CEO of payment gateway provider Braintree, which PayPal acquired in 2013.

Ferguson was an executive at mobile payments company Zong, which PayPal acquired in 2011. In a Facebook post, Ferguson said he was looking forward to “coaching/winning soccer, pee wee football and my next mountain to climb.”
