Movie Gallery Names COO

Dothan, Ala. Movie Gallery Inc. has hired Sherif J. Mityas to serve as the company’s new COO and president of retail operations, effective June 16.

He replaces Jeffrey S. Stubbs, who resigned.

Mityas has nearly 20 years of experience in the retail sector, most recently as a partner at A.T. Kearney Inc. He also served as a senior manager for the Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group.

Over the last year, Movie Gallery Inc. declared bankruptcy and named a new president and CEO in May, around the time it announced it was emerging from Chapter 11.
