Levi Strauss makes inventory connection

11/3/2015

Levi Strauss & Co. is turning to the Internet of Things (IoT) as a solution to improve inventory visibility.

Levi’s is partnering with Intel to run a proof-of-concept of the new Intel IoT platform at three of the vertical apparel retailer’s stores. The pilot allows the Levi’s stores to gain visibility into what’s on the shelf or what might be running low. The goal is to make the process of inventory management more effective, maximizing in-stock and on-shelf availability of products.

Levi’s is also using the IntelTrusted Analytics Platform (TAP), which is designed to help make data actionable and can be integrated in an end-to-end IoT solution. TAP integrates with the Intel IoT Platform reference architecture for activities including data management, workload distribution and computing.

Levi’s can now use TAP to gain near-real-time inventory insights that help improve accuracy in data collection to deliver an enhanced in-store experience.

The Intel IoT platform includes two reference architectures and a portfolio of products from Intel and its ecosystem partners. The products include new Intel Quark processors for IoT, free operating systems with a comprehensive cloud suite from Wind River, and analytics capabilities.

SAP will develop its IoT enterprise end-to-end solutions utilizing the Intel platform along with its SAP HANA cloud platform.
