Kroger, Union Back in Talks

Cincinnati, With a Friday strike date looming, Kroger Co. and the union representing 11,000 of its Greater Cincinnati employees have gone back to the bargaining table, according to The Business Courier. The new round of talks are scheduled for Thursday.

The contract with United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1099 expired Oct. 7, but was extended until Friday. If no agreement is reached by its 12:01 a.m. expiration, workers will walk out at 77 tri-state Kroger stores. Kroger has said in that event, it will staff the stores with temporary workers.

The union and Kroger are at odds over health benefits, pensions and wages.
