Jo-Ann Stores names president and COO

Hudson, Ohio Jo-Ann Stores said Tuesday it has promoted Travis Smith to president and COO, effective Jan. 31.

Smith, currently COO, will retain his current responsibilities for overseeing the areas of marketing, merchandising, sourcing, inventory management, supply chain and store operations, according to the company. In addition, he will assume responsibility for information technology.

Smith has served as COO of Jo-Ann Stores since February 1, 2009. He joined Jo-Ann as executive VP merchandising and marketing in 2006. Prior to joining Jo-Ann, Smith was senior VP general merchandise for Fred Meyer, a division of Kroger.

Jo-Ann Stores currently operates more than 750 Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores in 48 states.
