H-E-B names president

San Antonio H.E. Butt Grocery Co. appointed its chief strategic officer to serve as company president, while current lead Bob Loeffler retires.

Craig Boyan has been named H-E-B president and COO. Loeffler, who's led the company for the last seven years, will retire, but first volunteered to cover chief administrative duties for at least two years.

Boyan, who joined the company in 2005, previously worked as a consultant to the grocer, which also runs Central Markets. Then, he was a partner with the Monitor Group.

Meanwhile, H-E-B CFO Martin Otto has also added chief merchant to his title, which was previously held by Steve Harper, who will continue as a consultant. Otto has been with the company since 1991.
