The stakes keep getting higher in the delivery wars.
FedEx is moving beyond pilot stage with a new delivery service for late night orders to help retailers compete with Amazon competitors, according to the
Seattle Times.The service, which has been tested in about 100 markets since late 2017, enables retailers to offer next-day local shipping and two-day national shipping for online purchases made as late as midnight. Drivers will pick up packages from stores as late as 2 a.m. for sorting.
FedEx executives are quoted as saying they see the service as helping retailers compete with Amazon for online sales, the report said. Current users include AutoZone.
