EBay strives for diversity

San Jose, Calif. – EBay Inc. has released its 2014 diversity report. The online auction retailer, whose global workforce is 58% male and global workforce is 61% white, says it has made improvements in workforce diversity but still has progress to make.



EBay’s global leadership is 72%, while its global technology wotkforce is 76% male. The non-tech workforce is much more gender-diverse, with a slight 51% male majority.



Looking at U.S. ethnic diveristy, whites occupy 72% of leadership roles and 70% of non-tech positions. Interestingly, whites only hold 40% of U.S. tech roles, with Asians occupying a 55% majority.



EBay cited several specific diversity achievements, including:



• More than doubling the number of women in leadership roles and increasing the share of leadership positions through its Women’s Initiative Network (WIN), founded in 2011.



• Receiving a 100% score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI) every year since 2009 for its LGBT workforce and community support.



• Using career sites including Black Planet, Black Women Connect, African American Careers, National Society of Hispanic MBAs and several others.



• Expanded veteran and disability outreach in the U.S. through HirePurpose and the Veteran Empowerment Organization, which are veteran outreach organizations, and GettingHired and Options Unlimited, which help place people with disabilities into career opportunities.
