New York -- The hunt is on for a new president and COO at Dick's Sporting Goods. Dick’s disclosed in a regulatory filing that Joseph Schmidt is retiring as president and COO of the retailer, a role he has held since 2009, at year-end. In other changes, John Duken, executive VP of global merchandising since 2012, plans to retire, effective at the end of November.

Schmidt has served in several key leadership roles since joining Dick's Sporting Goods in 1990. He will remain with the company until the end of fiscal 2014. Dick's has initiated a search for Schmidt's successor.

Duken joined Dick’s in 1999 and has held a number of roles in operations, planning & allocation and merchandising throughout his tenure.

Dick’s also named Lee Belitsky to serve as executive VP, product development and planning, allocation & replenishment, effective Sept. 15. Belitsky joined Dick’s in 1997.
