CVS plans DC in N.Y. southern tier

Albany, N.Y. CVS/pharmacy plans to open a regional distribution center near Elmira, N.Y., by 2011.

Gov. David Paterson said Monday the state is giving a $4 million jobs grant to CVS Caremark to help bring an estimated 600 jobs to the area.

The 750,000-sq.-ft. facility will be located on 311 acres in Chemung County, just east of Elmira. The center will support approximately 350 CVS/pharmacy stores in the region. Construction is expected to begin this summer.
