Charming Shoppes names new board member

Bensalem, Pa. Charming Shoppes has appointed Bruce J. Klatsky, former CEO of Phillips-Van Heusen Corp., to its board of directors.

Klatsky's appointment is effective May 6. He served as head of Phillips-Van Heusen, which includes such brands as Calvin Klein, IZOD, Van Heusen and others, from 1992 to 2005.

After leaving the company, he co-founded a private-equity firm called LNK Partners to invest in consumer and retail businesses. He is also the chairman of the board of directors for Gazal Ltd., a publicly traded retail and apparel company in Australia.
