Bon-Ton closing store in Frederick, Md.

York, Pa. The Bon-Ton Stores will close its Frederick, Md., department store at the end of January.

The company says the 56 workers affected by the shutdown can apply for job openings in Hagerstown.

Frederick is the only location mentioned in the store-closing announcement. The company has 277 department stores in 23 states operating as Bon-Ton, Bergner's, Boston Store, Carson Pirie Scott, Elder-Beerman, Herberger's, Parisian and Younkers.
