Bashas names interim COO

Chandler, Ariz. Bashas said Thursday that Mike Proulx has retired as president and chief operating officer after more than 40 years with the company, effective immediately.

Succeeding him on an interim basis is Darl Andersen, Bashas’ retired CFO, who returned to Bashas' in mid-August to serve as chief restructuring officer while the supermarket operator goes through a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

Bashas' said when it filed in mid-July that it expects to emerge during the first quarter of 2010. It has already closed 15 of its original 158 stores, and plans to close 14 more by mid-October.
