A&P names board member to executive post
Montvale, N.J. The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. on Friday named one of its board members, Frederic F. Brace, to a new executive post as chief administrative officer.
Brace, whose appointment took effect immediately, is the latest addition to the supermarket chain's executive team under president and CEO Sam Martin, who was named on July 23 to replace Ron Marshall. On Wednesday, Paul Hertz was named as A&P's executive VP operations.
On Aug. 13, the operator of the A&P chain and other supermarkets said it would close 25 stores in five states as part of its turnaround strategy.
Brace will oversee A&P departments in charge of finance and accounting, real estate and information systems. Brace spent 20 years with United Airlines, where he held a variety of executive positions, most recently as executive VP and CFO. He left United in 2008.
