A Chicagoland mall has a fresh look after undergoing a nearly $9 million renovation project.

North Riverside Park Mall in the western Chicago suburb of North Riverside has completed a new project that included a slate of renovations to the 1.4 million-sq.-ft. shopping center. The Feil Organization, a national real estate investment firm, announced early this year that it was undertaking the capital improvement plan at North Riverside Park Mall. Designed by JP2 Architects and completed by AECom Hunt Construction Group, the renovations include modernized flooring, updated ceilings, common area lighting and furnishings, and a revamped main entrance, which allow the mall to “better reflect the needs of its retailers and shopping community.”

“Since opening 49 years ago, North Riverside Park Mall has been a gathering place for shoppers in the near west suburbs and throughout the Chicagoland area, and now we’re delighted to have this vibrant space updated to continue that warm welcome for visitors,” said Glenn Lindholm, general manager of North Riverside Park Mall. “The mall reflects these changes as a new, modern shopping center for shoppers, diners, entertainment-seekers, and merchants to enjoy.”

One highlight of the renovations is a 59-ft. by 10-ft. mural by popular Chicago artist Emmy Star Brown, focused on the theme “Gather.” Work on the brightly colored abstract mural is underway to be completed by mid-November.

The mall began its interior transformation in February and has completed the renovations in advance of the holiday shopping season. Additional renovation projects are slated for 2025 to be announced later.

“The Village values the significant investment the Feil Organization is making in our community and the North Riverside Park Mall to ensure that it continues to be a regional destination for shopping, dining and entertainment,” said North Riverside Mayor Joseph Mengoni. “As we celebrate the completion of this project, I look forward to our on-going partnership with Mall leadership for future redevelopment opportunities that will continue to modernize the property.”
