North American Properties’ Newport on the Levee to open food hall in summer 2023

Newport on the Levee
The Galley on the Levee will open summer 2023.

A newly renovated mixed-use retail center in Northern Kentucky will be the site of a food hall in summer 2023.

Galley Group, a food hall development and management company, signed a deal with North American Properties (NAP) to open “The Galley on the Levee,” a micro food hall and bar at Newport on the Levee, a 380,000-sq.-ft. multi-level retail entertainment destination located across from downtown Cincinnati in Newport, Kentucky.

Galley Group selected Reztark Design Studio to style the 7,900-sq.-ft. Galley on the Levee to reflect the center’s industrial surroundings. The food hall will be comprised of approximately 6,700 sq. ft. of interior space and 1,200 sq. ft. of outdoor gathering space. All seating will be communal and can accommodate over 200 diners.

“We were initially attracted to Newport on the Levee’s proximity to Downtown Cincinnati, its consistent programming, and riverfront views; however, we also recognized an opportunity for growth in its food and beverage space," said Chad Ellingboe, CEO at Galley Group. "There seems to be a lot of hidden talent in the local chef scene, and we look forward to customizing The Galley on the Levee to meet the wants of the market.”

The Galley on the Levee food hall will function more like full-service restaurants than traditional food halls as its front-of-house staff consists of managers, bartenders, runners, and bussers, so that once a customer orders, they can sit back and enjoy the experience.

Even more eatery expansion plans
In addition to the food hall, several other restaurants are currently under construction, including Shiners on the Levee, 16 Lots Brewing Co. and Amador.

Shiners will have a soft opening during Thanksgiving week and host grand opening festivities in early December, while 16 Lots and Amador are slated to open next spring.

“For quite some time the Levee has been missing a diverse variety of dining options and we’ve been hyper-focused on evolving our food and beverage lineup over the last year,” said Adam Schwegman, partner and senior VP of leasing at NAP. “We’re so excited to collaborate with Galley Group and the local community to curate the food hall intentionally so that its offerings can satisfy a wide range of palates.”
